from msnbc world headquarters here in new york. welcome, everyone, to alex witt reports. we begin with two major developments both of which could impact the election interference cases against donald trump. first up, we have the supreme court rejecting the special counsel s request for an early review of clumps claims that he should be immune from facing prosecution. a newly discovered recording of trump pressuring michigan election officials not to certify the 2020 election. we are going to go right now to nbc s erin gilchrist here that the white house fourth. aaron, welcome. what does this mean for trump in the cases against him? alex, to potential impacts. hear this phone call could turn into damning evidence in one of the four cases against trump. now at the same time the supreme court could be just the kind of speed bumps the trump legal team could be looking for. reporter: the setback for government lawyers trying to fast-track the prosecution of former president do
mar-a-lago maintenance worker helped move boxes into a storage room one day before a doj official came for the classified documents. the work was reportedly helping trump valet move the boxes, but did not know what was inside of them. that comes from a new york times report with one anonymous source that nbc has yet come from that account. it comes on the heels of a washington post report which says workers allegedly carried out a, quote, dress rehearsal for moving sensitive papers before his office received the may 2022 subpoena. more shocking our tails for that report revealed that trump show those classified documents to other people. quote, prosecutors have gathered evidence that trump at times kept classified documents in his office in a place where they were visible and sometimes showed them to others. trump is insisted that he is done no wrong. i had every right to under the presidential records act, you have the presidential records act, i took what i took and it
