As a part of its housing plan, B.C.'s NDP government has already unveiled new rules for cities that will require them to allow increased density near transit hubs. 

B.C. rules mandate a distance of at least a metre when motorists pass cyclists on lower-speed roads; 1.5 m on roads with speed limits above 50 km/h.

New rules have created a new minimum distance B.C. drivers must maintain when passing cyclists, province announced April 4. More distance if on highway.

Cyclists and pedestrians are now called vulnerable road users because they have more of a chance to be hurt on the roads. New rules are meant to protect.
