Miscellaneous: Altagether connects contractors with homeowners (3/12/21)

Friday, March 12, 2021 By STEPHANIE LYNAM / Pilot-Tribune Staff Some Alta residents are at a standstill with home repairs due to unavailability of contractors. Rob Hach, founder of Altagether, came up with an idea to organize the first annual Altagether Home & Garden Show to facilitate communication and connections between homeowners and contractors. The event took place on March 6th at the Alta Community Center and was free to the public. Altagether originated last year when volunteers got together to help residents with several home and yard projects. The organization is in the process of obtaining non-profit status. Residents said that commitments from contractors were not always fulfilled and phone calls were often unanswered, leaving them with unfinished projects. That is when Hach’s thoughts for the Home & Garden Show came to life.

Miscellaneous: Alta selected as a RAGBRAI pass-through town (2/5/21)

Friday, February 5, 2021 By STEPHANIE LYNAM / Pilot-Tribune Staff Bicyclists will pedal through Alta on Sun. July 25th on the first day of RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) 2021. The 7-day bike ride will begin in Le Mars and end in Clinton with the first day from Le Mars to Sac City along with other area pass-through towns Aurelia, Schaller and Early. Alta City Council members discussed the event at the Feb. 1st meeting. “We’ll certainly get hundreds of people to stop in our community,” Mayor Kevin Walsh said. “A pass-through should be good for us and other towns, too. Last time it went through it certainly made for some good fundraising for some people. We’ll support as much as we can. The key is to get a committee that’s excited about doing it.”
