Arena Football League fans who are knowledgeable of the game know that this league is a heck of a lot better off when both the Tampa Bay Storm and the Orlando Predators are both good. The truth of the matter? The last time that both of these teams were good at the same time was 2010, but even then, those teams were seeded third and fourth in the playoffs that season, and the Preds only just squeaked into the playoffs at 8-8.

It was a rough first three weeks of the 2014 season for the Philadelphia Soul. After a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Arizona Rattlers, a blowout loss to the San Jose SaberCats, and a loss to the Tampa Bay Storm, people began to get worried about the Soul. There still may be concerns, but the Soul returned to 2013 form with a 69-56 win over the Orlando Predators on Thursday night.

It only took one step into Spokane Arena on Thursday's Media Day for ArenaBowl XXIII to know that there was something special here. Just take one look in the rafters. Banner after banner after banner are hanging in the end zone just to the left of the scoreboard.

To say that the entire AFL season comes down to Week 16 might seem like hyperbole, but it's legitimately possible. The Arizona Rattlers and Orlando Predators are both quite possibly two wins away from having the road to the ArenaBowl go through their respective homes, and they have to go through each other first in order to settle their differences. TAMPA -- Rob Keefe pumped his fist in the air, and his defense went running off the field after its first stop of the Tampa Bay Storm offense. Keefe knew heading into the 2016 season that the Orlando Predators had a defense capable of being one of the best in the AFL. Now, he's proven it.

ORLANDO -- Let's get this much right. The Orlando Predators were the better team on the field on Saturday night against the Portland Steel. The oddsmakers said they were the better team by 24.5-points, and if you just look at the talent on the field, this truly was a mismatch.

The Albany Empire snapped a two-game losing streak as they handed the Baltimore Brigade their first home loss of the season, 56-49, in front of 5,552 at Royal Farms Arena on Saturday night. The win moved Albany within a game of Baltimore for first place.

As I think back to the 2016 AFL season, I'll remember a number of awesome moments both on and off the field. Joe Hills scoring eight touchdowns in a game. T.T Toliver essentially rewriting the record books. Nick Davila quietly putting up one of the best seasons a quarterback has ever had in this league. The Amway Center standing as one in the #OrlandoUnited campaign.

The last AFL regular season game of the year could easily be a preview of ArenaBowl XXV when the Philadelphia Soul hosts the Utah Blaze this Sunday evening. Not only does this game feature the top two scoring teams in the league, it also has the top two quarterbacks in each conference in Utah's Tommy Grady and Philadelphia's Dan Raudabaugh.
