ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions have taken another step toward replacing the previous regime, reportedly moving on from two executives, including vice president of player personnel Kyle O’Brien.
O’Brien and Jimmy Raye III, a senior personnel executive for three seasons, are no longer with the team, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The year was 2003, and Holmes was still just trying to break into the business. He worked for a while at Enterprise Rental Car before finally cracking the sports world as a public relations intern for the Atlanta Hawks. But his passion was in football. His father played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, his uncle was a first-round pick of the Detroit Lions, and he was a captain at North Carolina A&T. The game flows through that family’s blood, and Holmes wanted to be in it.

ALLEN PARK -- Brad Holmes once worked for Enterprise Rental Car because he couldn’t find a job in the NFL. Then he started working public relations for the Atlanta Hawks.
In 2003, he finally broke into the NFL -- as an intern in the public relations department for the St. Louis Rams.
Now 18 years later, he is set to become the next general manager of the Detroit Lions.

The Lions reached agreement on a five-year contract with Holmes after interviewing him for a second time Wednesday, a source told the Free Press on Thursday. The Lions announced the hiring later Thursday afternoon.
"I am thrilled to welcome Brad Holmes to Detroit," Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp said in a statement. "Several weeks ago when we embarked on this process, it was critical that we find the right person to fit our vision for this team. It was evident early on that Brad is a proven leader who is ready for this opportunity. We are thrilled to introduce him to our fans as a member of our football family.”
