Thieves entered a grocery and a mobile store at Bishnu Rabha Path in Guwahati by cutting the tin ceilings and took off items worth lakhs.

The accused have been identified as Praful alias Abhishek Panchal (22), a resident of Khar Road. The accused was also arrested by Andheri GRP in 2019 for extorting passengers at knifepoint.

The arrested accused were identified as Shambhu Ahir (25), Bhupendrasingh Hathisingh Jadeja (27), both residents of Kutch in Gujarat; Kiritsingh Sartanji Vaghela (24), and Rajendrasingh Balwantsingh Vaghela (24), both are residents of Patan in Gujarat.

The family members said the thieves took away gold ornaments worth Rs 17 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from the wardrobe. The family alleged that the management of the township and the security guards were responsible for the incident.
