Marlena Pavlos-Hackney ignored a court order to close Marlena's Bistro & Pizzeria in Holland.

The restaurant owner was held in Ingham County Jail for four nights following her arraignment by Judge Rosemarie Aquilina and released March 23, after paying a $15,000 contempt fine and shuttering her restaurant. Pavlos-Hackneys food license was initially suspended by MDARD in late January for her refusal to comply with state-mandated COVID-19 emergency regulations, such as mask-wearing, social-distancing and capacity restrictions.
