The original lawsuit, obtained by E! News, stated that Cornell s family was suing the doctor and his office for negligently and repeatedly prescribing dangerous, mind-alerting controlled substances to Chris Cornell which impaired Mr. Cornell s cognition, clouded his judgment, and caused him to engage in dangerous impulsive behaviors that he was unable to control, costing him his life.
The doctor s attorney said the prescriptions were appropriate, CNN reported after the lawsuit was filed. Dr. Koblin is a competent and conscientious doctor who enjoyed an excellent physician/patient relationship with Mr. Cornell and other members of his family, the lawyer said in a statement the cable network in 2018. The experts I have consulted with believe Dr. Koblin s treatment was within the standard of care in this community and were not a substantial factor in causing Mr. Cornell to commit suicide.

A lawsuit originally filed by Chris s widow,
Vicky Cornell, alleged that Dr. Koblin prescribed Lorazepam (also known as Ativan) to Chris as early as 2015, without ever performing a formal exam. Chris had well-documented struggles with addiction.
Suicidal thoughts have long been associated with Ativan. One report claimed that the
Soundgarden frontman was prescribed more than 940 total doses to treat his anxiety.

The family of Chris Cornell and a doctor who they alleged over-prescribed him drugs before he died have agreed to a settle a lawsuit.
Court documents filed by attorneys for the rock singer’s widow, Vicky Cornell, and their children, Toni and Christopher Nicholas Cornell, said a confidential settlement had been reached. The documents were filed in April, but they had gone unnoticed before City News Service reported on them Thursday.
