A pair of West Liberty residents was among three people killed in a head-on collision near West Branch.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 20-year-old Eric Nunez of Plano, IL, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 around 4:30 Monday morning near the West Branch exit. Nunez’s Nissan Altima collided head-on with a Dodge Grand Caravan being driven by 70-year-old Robert Larson of West Liberty. Nunez, Larson and a passenger in Larson’s car, 68-year-old Teresa Larson, were all killed at the scene. The State Patrol says Nunez was not wearing a seat belt.
The accident remains under investigation.
