Lawndale Mayor Robert Pullen-Miles will face fellow Democrat Tina Simon McKinnor in a runoff June 7 to fill the vacant 62nd Assembly District seat.

The California Legislature now has its first parent of a transgender child. Suisun City Mayor Lori Wilson easily won election Tuesday to the open 11th Assembly District seat that straddles Solano and Contra Costa counties.

Three Assembly seats and one House post are now open.

Nonprofit director and businesswoman Tina Simone McKinnor and Lawndale Mayor Robert Pullen-Miles are running in the April 5 special primary election to replace former Assemblymember Autumn Burke in the 62nd Assembly District and they both have ties to the California Legislative Black Caucus.

Vote centers are open for the April 5 special primary election for Assembly District 62, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
