KCSE 2020 Top Student is Simiyu Robinson Wanjala
The top student in the just-released 2020 KCSE results was too nervous to eat when Education CS Prof George Magoha was announcing the exam results in a live television broadcast on Monday.
Simiyu Robinson Wanjala, who completed his secondary education at Murang’a High School, said he did not expect to be the country’s top performer.
“I was nervous and tried to avoid the TV as much as possible. We were having lunch with my family but I could not eat. When CS Magoha mentioned my name, I rushed to the TV to check if it was a mistake…I was elated and filled with tears of joy,” Simiyu told Citizen TV.

Education CS Professor George Magoha has finally released the much-anticipated Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE 2020) results.
A total of 752,891 students sat for the national examination that was done under the fierce Covid-19 pandemic that has hit hard various sectors in the country.
A total of 893 candidates got A plain in KCSE 2020. Candidates who have scored C+ and above are 143,140. This is the minimum entry grade to a university.
Here is the list of top 10 candidates for this year’s KCSE:
Simiyu Robinson Wanjala – Murang’a High School
The top candidate under the special needs category is Kipkemoi Miriam Chepleting from Moi Girls High School in Eldoret with a mean grade of 84.8.
223 candidates with special needs scored C+ and above as compared to 2019 candidates who were 127 in number, said the Education CS.
The top ten candidates countrywide.

Education CS George Magoha on Monday, May 10 released the 2020 KCSE results at Mtihani House, Nairobi.
Magoha announced that Simiyu Robinson Wanjala from Murang a High School was the best candidate nationally scoring 87.334. Wasonga Allan Udoma and Sharon Chepng eno came second with 87.173 points.
