Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu has been removed from his post, according to the country's state media, nearly two months after he disappeared from public view.

The decision was approved by the standing committee of the country’s rubber-stamp legislature, the National People’s Congress, according to CCTV. The committee did not name any successor to Li.

General Li Shangfu, who has been absent from public view for two months, is the second minister to be ousted with no explanation this year.
