Grand jury hands down murder indictments

EDWARDSVILLE Indictments in a double homicide in Godfrey, as well as the Feb. 20 murder of an Alton man, were among those handed down by a Madison County grand jury on Thursday.
An eight-count indictment was announced against Bryce V. Andrews in the Feb. 1 murder of Leonard J. Ebrey and Robert B. Andrews, Bryce Andrews’ adopted father.
The two were discovered stabbed to death in their Godfrey home after emergency personnel responded to a fire at that location. Bryce Andrews was taken into custody at a St. Louis area hospital.
Troy man faces aggravated DUI, driving while revoked charges

EDWARDSVILLE A Troy man was charged Thursday with DUI after a December incident.
Russell C. Mongiovi, 62, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence, a Class 2 felony, and aggravated driving under the influence while license revoked/suspended, a Class 4 felony.
The case was presented by the Troy Police Department.
According to court documents, on Dec. 26 Mongiovi was found to be driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey while under the influence of alcohol at the time his license had been revoked. It was noted he had previous related convictions in 1990 and 2012. Bail was set at $60,000.

EDWARDSVILLE Felony criminal charges recently filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office include:
• Shane M. McBride, 27, of Granite City, was charged Jan. 20 with home invasion, a Class X felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. According to court documents, on Jan. 18 McBride entered a home in the 2500 block of Washington Avenue and struck one of the occupants. Bail was set at $150,000.
• Damon T.M. Starks, 26, of Granite City, was charged Jan. 20 with unlawful possession of a stolen firearm, offenses relating to motor vehicles, unlawful possession of a stolen license plate, all Class 2 felonies; and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department.
