12/10/2020 By Jarrett Renshaw and Christopher Walljasper PHILADELPHIA/CHICAGO, Dec 9 (Reuters) - President-elect Joe Biden plans to nominate former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack for U.S. agriculture secretary, according to two sources familiar with the decision, a choice expected to reassure commodity crop farmers but disappoint climate activists and small-farm advocates. Vilsack - who served as USDA secretary under President Barack Obama and as Iowa governor from 1999 to 2007 - is seen by establishment Democrats as a sound choice, largely because of his moderate politics and longstanding relationships with large-scale farmers.
