In 2020 Rohde Nielsen A/S completed three exciting maintenance dredging projects in the Port of Esbjerg, Denmark.
First out of three was the Project Grådyb. There, Rohde Nielsen removed around 230.000 m3 of non-contaminated dredged sediment from the fairway channel entrance leading to Port of Esbjerg.
Next one was the Project Basin that included dredging approximately 26.000 m3 of non-contaminated soft silt material from two basins in Esbjerg.
Finally, Project Ren Havn covered the dredging of contaminated and highly contaminated soft silt coming from the oldest and most contaminated basins in Port of Esbjerg.

Klaipeda State Seaport Authority has signed a contract for the dredging works of the shipping canal up to 15 meters.
The European Union assigned 17.3 million euros to implement the project. The work will be performed by the Danish dredging company Rohde Nielsen A/S.
It is not the first big project implemented by the Danes in Klaipeda Port – Rohde Nielsen A/S conducted deepening operations in these areas during 2011-2013.
When the depth of the shipping canal and the permissible draught of vessels is increased up to 13.8m from the northern part of Klaipeda Port up to Malku Bay, more heavily loaded vessels will be able to call to the port resulting in lower intensity of navigation.

Rohde Nielsen A/S recently released a picture of the split hopper dredger Freja R while she was working on the Rønne Port expansion project in Denmark.
The shallow draught and the powerful dredge pumps, combined with the excellent capability in positioning, made Freja R a perfect choice for this development project.
Over the two years, in 2018 and 2019, Rohde Nielsen with its expertise contributed to the development of Rønne Port.
During the works, 15 hectares of new land area, 600 meters of new quay, 1150 meters of pier together with a new harbor basin with 11 meters of water depth were constructed.
