A trip to Paris is famously “always a good idea,” but the pandemic disrupted our ability to travel and rewrote the boundaries of the world as we know it. With France closed to international travelers for more than a year, our experience of the City of Lights was left in the hands of Emily, whose taste level I frankly question. Thankfully, the country opened back up to vaccinated U.S. travelers last month. I booked my flight June 10 and was traversing the Atlantic the evening of the 11th. Impulsive? Yes. Worth it? Of course! While a recent rapid PCR test was required to both enter and exit France, and masks were required at all times on the plane, the rest of the travel experience was muscle memory. And I have a few takeaways from the trip that you won’t find on Netflix.
