The girls 1500 free will feature European Junior Record holder Merve Tuncel (Turkey).

The youngster earned a bronze medal in the 50 back, swimming a 28.46, which broke her own Romanian Record of 28.59, which she swam in semis last night.

The country's top two male swimmers went head-to-head in the 400 free on Friday, with Popovici beating Stancu in front of a celebrity spectator.

Popovici became the first Romanian swimmer under 24 seconds in the men's 50 fly, clocking 23.96 in the prelims before getting down to 23.74 in the final.

When we remember David Popovici in 2022, the first thing we're all going to think of is his World Record in the LC men's 100 free at the European Champs.

By FINA rules, David Popovici is only allowed to swim one leg of a relay. So who else could Romania put around him with a chance at an Olympic final?

Incredibly, the swim was nowhere near the meet record, which Sjostrom set in 2017 with a scorching 23.83.

Daiya Seto was among the top performers of the ISL regular season, but he'll be absent from the playoffs after his Frog Kings club was eliminated.
