Edinburg Police Chief Cesar Torres is suing the city, claiming city leaders are trying to force him out. Torres attorney said the police chief was instructed on more than one occasion by Edinburg City Manager Ron Garza and Omar Ochoa, the city attorney, not to investigate alleged criminal conduct by another Edinburg Police officer. The lawsuit says an Edinburg Internal Affairs investigator informed Torres of possible criminal misconduct from a police investigator in September and says last month Garza and Ochoa instructed Torres to leave that matter alone.

According to Edinburg City Manager Ron Garza, local skate boarders provided feedback saying they want more amenities. “We did a parks master plan just a few years ago and that was one of the top things,” Garza said. “Skateboard park and the addition of hike and bike trails. Among some of the current frustrations and needs that the current skate park wasn’t meeting was the lack of light at night, limited resting areas, water fountains and secured surroundings.

City of Edinburg encourages community to stay active with new projects in the works 3 months 1 week 3 days ago Tuesday, January 05 2021 Jan 5, 2021 January 05, 2021 9:20 PM January 05, 2021 in News - Local Prompted by the new year, the city of Edinburg is encouraging the community to stay active.  The city plans to add several dog parks, fitness stations and new miles to its hike and bike trails this year.  Edinburg City Manager Ron Garza said COVID-19 took the value of the outdoors to another level. The city chose to keep their parks open during the lock down last year.  We did close our amenities but our parks were very important to peoples well being their health, Garza said. “Our hike and bike trails I think if we would ve closed those it would ve been a major, major mistake because they were very heavily used and they still are.”
