congress, which is a fabulous library. by far the largest library in the world. why shouldn t, it is a deposit library so every book that is produced is supposed to be deposited free of charge of the library of congress. it digitizes its holding which is somewhere around it is staggering. why can t it you do that and make, make sure that these holdings are preserved and made available for the country. the answer is, to problems, one copyright so you can t violate copyright and digitize it if the book is still under copyright and two, money. it cost a lot of money. however my formula is let us have, if not a new copyright law, we have had 11 copyright laws in the last 50 years, one more complicated than the other. so let s at least have a law that covers orphan books. if we have such a law, then competitors to google would be able to digitize books, but they can t according to the settlement. only google can digitize these books in be protected from lawsuits so orphan book le
