Coast Guard rescues 2 stranded on sailboat off Fort Myers shore
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Coast Guard rescued two people that were stranded on a sailboat 23 miles off the Fort Myers shore Friday.
A call came in around 10:45 pm Christmas Eve saying heavy winds and rough seas had caused the vessel to breakdown.
The 35-foot sailing vessel became disabled after severe weather caused the watercraft to lose its mast and steering, according to the US Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard were able to tow the sailboat and people back to the Rosa Marina without any issues.
