S pore authorities looking into 2 Covid-19 cases in marine sector that possibly breached safety measures

01 January 2021 - 07 December 2020 Singapore authorities are currently investigating whether a marine surveyor and a marine service engineer who recently tested for Covid-19 infection had breached safe management measures at work. The marine surveyor, who worked at Lloyd s Register Singapore, tested positive for Covid-19 on Dec. 29, while the marine service engineer, who worked at Master Systems Marine, tested positive on Nov. 26. The former is related to a Raffles Girls School student who recently tested positive for Covid-19, while the latter was part of the group of 12 who dined at the Seoul Garden outlet at Tampines Mall on Nov. 21. Action has been taken against the two companies involved

2 imported cases who arrived from UK preliminarily test positive for B117 strain

Screenshot from MOH. Case 58810 is a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) who works as a Marine Surveyor at Lloyd s Register Singapore. His work entails working onboard vessels docked at Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard. He developed acute respiratory infection (ARI) symptoms on Dec. 27, and sought treatment at a general practitioner clinic on Dec. 28 where he was tested for Covid-19 as part of MOH s enhanced community testing. He was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection the next day and was conveyed in an ambulance to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID). His serological test results have come back negative, indicating that this is likely a current infection.
