On this West Virginia Morning, we remember Mountain Stage Chief Engineer Francis Fisher who passed away last week at the age of 79. Also, in this show, for this week’s Mountain Stage Song of the Week, we highlight blues music icon and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Buddy Guy.

Our Inside Appalachia team recently won several awards for our reporting. This week, we’re listening back to some of these stories, including one about the John Denver classic, “Take Me Home Country Roads,” which was first recorded 50 years ago in 1971. And we’ll learn how indie pro-wrestling in Southern West Virginia was able to keep going through the pandemic — with drive-in shows. Needle Exchange A bill was recently introduced in the West Virginia State Legislature that would outlaw some of the states most effective needle exchange programs. SB 334 was introduced by Senators Eric Tarr and Amy Grady; both are Republicans for District 4, which includes Mason, Jackson, Roane and Putnam counties.
