This will call on the Transportation Authority to convene a working group of Pedestrian Safety advocates and lead the major county departments. Including the departments of Public Health, sf mta and San Francisco Police Department to develop and action plan. Memoriam which i am cosponsoring with Kim Bobby Baker who passed away. She was born in memphis tennessee and overcame many challenges before moving to San Francisco area in 1992. She served as the west coast regional ministries and lay minister and transgender minorities. Her friends admired her ability for adversity. She is wellknown at the tenderloin Resource Center and health. The Wellness Center in early 2013 of finding a home for her many talents and for her passion. Bobby jean worked tirelessly to help people that were falling through cracks in society. She had a unique sense to find members in need. She survived by family and many many friends and clients in San Francisco and the bay area and many people are in mourning for her passing. With 20 pedestrian deaths recording in San Francisco. We have seen an unprecedented number of accidents along with enforcement and better infrastructure education is a need to prevent these injuries. Im hoping to get started the education piece within the next month or so. In district seven we wanted to do some pilot program. We are asking students in our Public Schools to participate as crossing guards. Right now there is two schools that have shown a strong interest and we are hoping to take it off. Why i was interested in doing that is really the education piece where you start educating children at a young age about what their responsibilities are, not only as a pedestrian but when they get older as a driver. So thats my attempt. And what we are finding out and maybe everybody might know this, but for people that dont know this, speed is responsible for 10 times the number of pedestrian injuries in San Francisco, more than driving under the influence.
