India will lead the security pillar of the South Asia regional grouping BIMSTEC and the fifth summit has adopted a charter to expand its overall cooperation and announced a master plan for transport connectivity and highlighted cooperation activities standing on seven pillars at a virtual summit.
The BIMSTEC on Wednesday adopted a much awaited charter and a connectivity roadmap to expand its cooperative agenda with Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitching for giving adequate priority to regional security to ensure prosperity in the backdrop of the developments in Ukraine
President Ram Nath Kovind will be on an official visit to Turkmenistan from April 1 to 4 and this visit will be just after the inauguration of the new President of Turkmenistan, said MEA s joint secretary, in charge of the BIMSTEC and south Asian region, Rudrendra Tandon on Wednesday.
The Bimstec summit was chaired by Sri Lanka's President, with Myanmar represented by Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin.
