The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday told the Calcutta High Court that it has examined TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee and his wife Rujira and has found more incriminating material in the School Jobs for Cash scam.
Among other directions, the Court has ordered the media not to put out unverified information, to refrain from publishing photos linking persons to crimes before a chargesheet is filed and to not mask opinions as news.
Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya also held that the investigating agencies like the Enforcement Directorate must avoid flaunting the results of their probe and must speak only through their chargesheets.
The mainstream media operating in traditional and digital spheres, has portrayed the petitioner and her husband as though they are proven guilty persons, the petition highlights.
