Half Marathon Training - Why You Should Run 13.1 Miles

Half Marathon Training Why—and How—You Should Run Your Best 13.1 Right Now Training for a half might be one of the smartest goals to work toward right now—whether it’s at an in-person or a virtual event. JOHNNY ZHANG The marathon distance often holds all the glory—whether it’s Eliud Kipchoge attempting to break the two-hour barrier or everyday runners working toward the finish lines of all six World Marathon Majors. But 2020 proved how exciting the half marathon really is. Running USA survey finds that half of runners won't return to races

781 Shares The first wave of half marathon runners crosses the starting line at the Colfax Marathon and half marathon on May 19, 2019 in Denver. (Kathryn Scott, Special to The Denver Post) Runners appear to be evenly split on whether they will consider returning to in-person racing this year after the pandemic dealt a knockdown blow to the sport in 2020, according to an influential annual survey of runners that was released this week. According to the 2020 Global Running Survey of more than 4,500 runners in North America that was commissioned by Running USA, 44% said they will participate in-person in 2021 when races are offered, while 20% said they would not feel safe at races until a vaccine is available and 24% said they would not feel safe even after vaccines are available.
