A 40-year-old man, who was arrested for allegedly killing flight attendant Rupal Ogrey, was found hanging in the Mumbai polices custody in the early hours of Friday, an official said.

The flight attendant, identified as Rupal Ogrey, was found dead with her throat slit in an apartment in Andheri.

The accused, Vikram Athwal, was found hanging using a pair of pants as a noose inside the toilet of Andheri police station

A 40-year-old man, who was arrested for allegedly killing 25-year-old air hostess Rupal Ogrey, was found dead in Mumbai police's custody in the early hours of the morning today, an official said.

The accused in the flight attendant murder case, Vikram Athwal, committed suicide in Andheri police custody. Athwal, a garbage collector, was arrested swiftly after the murder of 24-year-old Rupal Ogrey. He was found hanging in the lock-ups toilet. Athwal had confessed to intending to frighten and assault Ogrey but ended up stabbing her fatally.

The knife allegedly used by a housekeeping staffer to kill a 24-year-old flight attendant has been recovered along with the clothes he was wearing at the time of the crime in suburban Andheri four days ago, the police said on Wednesday.
