The State Board of Education on Wednesday approved a new rule that will lead to Florida officials publishing an annual list of library books and instructional materials that have drawn public objections, in a move that the board’s chairman said will “provide transparency for our families.”

Supporters say the records are a security issue while critics say the law will conceal where the governor goes and who he meets with.

State Education Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. made comments Wednesday at a Board of Governors meeting suggesting Timur get a truncated contract.

The Florida Senate passed an expansion of last year’s “Parental Rights in Education” law — known to critics as “don’t say gay.”

The House bill, already OK’d by the Senate, now goes to Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The Florida House passed a measure that would put new requirements on universities related to debates and other campus forums.
