Kelly O Brien : The crossing guard in the video is Maurice Daniels. He s been with Stafford Middle School the last 15 years, but he s been a crossing guard here locally the last 20 years.
There s actually two videos that I found of the same incident. I think that s kind of an important thing to note here. It s a short video only about 10 seconds long. It shows Maurice yelling something to this student, we don t know how old the student is what grade the students in, but he s yelling at him. And then he hits him on the side of the head.
The second video that I mentioned shows the exact same thing, but it s a little further back into the side. And it s unclear really what happened before or after this video. That stuff we do not know,

In the wake of Minneapolis resident George Floyd’s 2020 death in custody of that city s police department, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered cities and towns across New York to create plans to reform local police departments.
The Plattsburgh City Council recently approved its plan which contained 20 recommended changes, including body cameras and the creation of a Crisis Intervention Team for mental health emergencies.
