Nine months after the Biden administration approved it, ConocoPhillips Inc. announced it has officially sanctioned full development of its huge Willow oil project on Alaska’s North Slope.

ConocoPhillips announced a final investment decision for the estimated $8B North Slope energy development four days after a US appeals court rejected opponents latest plea to stop $900M of now underway winter construction.

ConocoPhillips estimates that Alaska’s Willow project will produce approximately 600 MMbbl over its lifetime, the company said.

According to the Bureau of Land Management, the Willow project is expected to deliver $8 billion to $17 billion in new revenue for the federal government, the state of Alaska and Alaska Native communities.
