A number of journalists who have been covering Elon Musk and Twitter were banned from the social media company on Thursday.

Among those who were banned are journalists who wrote and tweeted about the suspension of an account tracking the publicly available whereabouts of Elon Musk's private jet.

Elon Musk has clarified Twitter's recently revised doxxing policy after running a poll that asked users to weigh in on when to reinstate the suspended accounts of journalists who allegedly violated the policy by sharing Musk's real-time location and "endangering my family."

Twitter Inc on Thursday suspended the accounts of several journalists, including ones from the New York Times and the Washington Post, with the site showing "account suspended" notices for them.

Twitter also banned the account of Mastodon, a rival social media site.

Twitter has suspended accounts of roughly half a dozen prominent journalists, who have been covering the social media site and its owner Elon Musk, citing they had violated rules against doxxing.

Elon Musk has asked his followers whether or not he should reinstate CNN, New York Times, Washington Post and other reporters he suspended for allegedly 'doxxing.'
