The city’s plan to eliminate on-street parking and add a dedicated bicycle lane for an 11-block stretch on Seventh Street is getting some pushback from a restaurant owner who expects months of business disruptions after an unusually difficult year.
The city in a few days plans to launch a $2.6 million project that will eliminate on-street parking for a roughly half-mile stretch on Seventh Street between Walnut Street and Woodlawn Avenue. The city will use that space to add on the street’s south side a dedicated bicycle lane that will be separated from vehicle traffic by curbs, traffic islands and, occasionally, bus stops for the 7-Line.
