The state department and american intelligence agencies did not do enough to boost security despite warnings that the threat level was increasing. Its the first report criticising ambassador chris sevens directly. It raises questions about his judgments and actions in the weeks before his death. Stevens and three other were killed on the attacks, taking place september 11th, 2002. Theres a new wave of violence in iraq. Six car bombs exploded in and around baghdad. 75 were killed, dozens injured. The blasts occurred in the mostly shia neighbourhoods. Two International Human rights organizations have accused the u. S. Of violating International Law, a charge that u. S. Officials strongly deny. We have more on this story. Reporter tony this, comes just a few weeks after president obama declared publicly that americas use of drones is legal, and only targets enemies of the United States. But the reports release today charge the United States with indiscriminate killing of civilians. Reporter the drone strikes in the tribal area of pakistan. Investigators say they researched nine of 45 known drone attacks which occurred between january 2012 and august of 2013, in one strike they claim 18 laborers were reportedly killed. The most challenging situation we had to face was the complete and utter secrecy of the u. S. Authorities. Both liberal and conservative protesters gathered to protest what they say is unlawful government spying on americans. Signs saying t stop mass spying and thank you, edward snowden.
