Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram has accused the BJP of using the resolved Katchatheevu issue as a political tool in the upcoming general elections. Chidambaram questioned why Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar did not contest from Tamil Nadu and raise the issue, arguing that their statements would cause harm to 35 lakh Tamils, including 25 lakh Sri Lankan Tamils and 10 lakh Indian Tamils living in Lanka.
Jaishankar took to social media platform X to express his gratitude to Indian Embassy im Laos for their diligent efforts in coordinating the rescue operation. He also extended appreciation to the authorities in Laos for their cooperation in ensuring the safe return of the workers.
India s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday (April 1) took a dig at China over its claims on Arunachal Pradesh stating that changing names would not have any impact on the fact that the northeastern state is, was and will always be a part of India. "If today I change the name of your house, will it become mine? Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will always be a state of India. Changing names does not have an effect," Jaishankar said.
