Edison officials call on state AG s office, prosecutor to bring those responsible for 2017 racist flier to justice after damaging audio recording released

❯ EDISON – Mayor Thomas Lankey and Councilman Robert Diehl have appealed to the New Jersey Attorney General’s office and/or the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office to step in and bring those responsible for the racist flier that was distributed by mail during the 2017 Edison Township Public Schools Board of Education election to justice. Lankey and Diehl expressed frustration with the lack of movement in the case at a press conference on March 3. “It is frustrating to have this event that occurred three years ago and to this day not have uncovered and determined who is responsible,” Lankey said. “I applaud our [Township] Council and Committee of the Whole. Without them, honestly, I don’t think we would have gotten to where we are today and we just need to help them bring it over the goal line, to finish.”

Mascot Nickname Change Approved

Feb 23, 2021 3:27 AM WAUPACA CO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Weyauwega-Fremont School District approved to change their high school mascot name to the Warhawks. The approval came in Monday night’s Board of Education meeting. The high school’s previous mascot name was the Indians. It is unclear when the name change will take effect. After a Committee of the Whole meeting back on November 9, 2020, a Google form was posted to the school district’s website and Facebook for community members to start giving mascot suggestions. The district then formed a committee to go through data to bring back eight to 10 suggestions for the board to then condense down to a final three to five names.
