A total of 10,000 needy Muslims in 21 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja benefitted from the distribution of rams, cows and goats meat during the recently concluded Eid-ul-kabir celebrations.
942 rams, 50 cows and 25 goats were slaughtered and distributed to the less privileged who could not afford to mark the yearly festivity with a portion of meat.
The beneficiaries include; indigent persons, widows, the physically challenged, families headed by women, among others.
The distribution of sacrificial animals tagged Eid-al-Adha Qurbani Project, which was organized for the first time in the country, was organized by a United Kingdom-based charity organization, Human Appeal in partnership with Nigeria’s Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation (ZSF).

Unknown gunmen, yesterday, abducted Oscar Ofuka, Special Adviser on Cocoa Development, to Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, in Calabar, the state capital. x
He was taken away by his abductors about 11:55 a.m. at the Cocoa Farm of the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC).
Ofuka was to have commenced distribution of cocoa seedling to farmers in the Cross River South Senatorial District, alongside the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ivara Esu before he was kidnapped, prompting the suspension of the programme.
The unknown gunmen threatened to shoot a senior correspondent at the corporation, Sunny Inah, who tried to resist them, while the General Manager, Maurice Inok, Esther Ofem and some journalists, who were present, expressed shock at the incident.

Determined to ensure support for the vulnerable in the society, the Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, yesterday, gave succour to hundreds of needy persons, particularly helpless widows and orphans in Edo State.
Describing the gesture as life-saving despite Nigeria’s economic challenges, Edo State Administrative Officer, Mallam Abdul-Rasheed Jatto, made the presentation in Benin City.
Presenting the first round of the foundation’s annual Ramadan package for widows and orphans, Jatto said the food items distributed during the ceremony included rice, beans, garri, palm oil and vegetable oil, as well as cash. The administrative officer also stressed the need to care for orphans.
