On January 29, the HC asked SpiceJet to pay $4 million by February 15. However, the airline paid only $2 million by the deadline citing financial constraints and urged an extension till February 29.
The HC has warned the airline that in the event it does not pay the money, it will be constrained to pass orders in the application seeking the engine s grounding.
The inspection is to be carried out once at the time of grounding of the engine and once at the time of re-delivery of the engine. The court further asked SpiceJet to maintain status quo with respect to the engines after grounding them, excepting for purposes such as refurbishing the engine among others
