Kirstie Alley, an actress best known for playing Rebecca Howe on the hit NBC sitcom "Cheers," has died from cancer. She was 71.

She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995 for her contribution to motion pictures.

Kirstie Alley has died at the age of 71 following a short battle with cancer, four months after the 40th anniversary of the TV show that propelled her Hollywood career - Cheers.
