Is Marion Judge Warner s post-conviction bond release common?

After Marion Judge Jason Warner and his wife Julia were granted to be released from prison on bond earlier this week, many in the Marion community have taken to social media to express their frustrations. Posts and comments on Facebook have been swirling over the last few days after the news broke. These comments include community members calling this decision corrupt and many questioned if the common person would be given the same treatment as an elected official. In turn, it prompted an online petition titled, Keep Jason Warner in Prison started by a Marion resident. This petition has now met its signatures goal twice. While it was originally looking for 500, it exceeded that mark earlier this week and bumped the goal to 1,000. On Wednesday night, the petition hit that total and is now looking for 1,500 signatures. At the time of writing this article, it had more than 1,200 signatures and continued to rise.

Marion Judge Jason Warner, wife, to leave prison on bond pending appeal

While the Warners are set to be released from prison, there are stipulations they must follow in order to stay on bond. Per court records, the Warners must post $100,000 each as bond; this can be either $100,000 cash, or through a bondsmen which acts as surety and pledges money to cover the bond. The Court of Appeals also placed requirements for bond that do not allow the Warners to operate a vehicle, or consume alcohol or illegal drugs. Additionally, the Warners must follow other pretrial and non-financial conditions, which includes not making contact with the victim, Colton Gray, or his family.
