A 35-year-old woman who claims to have been forced into quarantine with her two-year-old son was on Monday expressing concern about the disappearance of COVID-19 test samples.
Speaking to
Barbados TODAY from quarantine, a frustrated Samantha Jordan said she was hoping the delay in the return of the results did not have anything to do with her standing her ground on refusing to have the nasal swab test administered to her and her son.
The woman said she was unhappy with the way she was treated at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) where she took her son last Thursday for treatment after he experienced breathing challenges. She pleaded with the authorities for answers about her and her ward’s test results.

A 35-YEAR-OLD MOTHER is claiming she and her two-year-old son are being restricted against her will at the Enmore medical facility after refusing to undergo a nasal swab for COVID-19 at the nearby Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
However, the hospital is defending its actions, saying that an individual’s choices have to be balanced against the protection of others in the continued fight against the deadly virus.
Samantha Jordan told the DAILY NATION that last Thursday morning she took her two-year-old son to Sandy Crest Medical Centre in St James when he began wheezing. He was nebulised three times, she added, but appeared not to be getting better, and they were transferred to the QEH via ambulance.

Mother and grandmother Crystal Mason has already served nearly a year behind bars for voting while on supervised release. While she is now facing five more years in a Texas state prison, she has thankfully received a new appeal.
According to NBC News, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals said on March 31 that it will consider an appeal from Crystal Mason. She is currently out on an appeal bond.
