Sensex and Nifty ended the day in the green after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's fourth consecutive Budget speech. Sensex ended 848 points higher at 58,862 and Nifty rose 237 points to 17,576.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned net buyers in the capital market, as they purchased shares worth Rs 244.87 crore on Tuesday.

On August 24, benchmark indices ended higher for the second straight session amid positive global cues. Sensex ended 403 points higher at 55,958 and Nifty gained 128 points to end at its record closing peak of 16,624

At 09:18 hours, the 30-share BSE index was trading 71 points or 0.13 per cent lower at 55,366.01, and the broader NSE Nifty was down 23.5 points or 0.14 per cent to 16,505.55

The truncated week had started with a surprising gap down on Monday due to some nervousness across the globe.
