300,000 young Ugandans to be supported in agriculture

Humanitarian aid and development agency, GOAL Uganda has launched a transformative programme that is going to enable 300,000 young rural Ugandans access dignified and fulfilling work in the agricultural sector over the next five years.
The launch which happened last Thursday at Mestil hotel in Kampala was attended by representatives from MasterCard Foundation, local and national government officials, NGOs, development partners and youth representatives.
In partnership with MasterCard Foundation’s Young Africa Works in Uganda - Markets for Youths Programme, the programme will target 210,000 young women and 90,000 young men between the ages of 16 and 35 years and will also include 30,000 refugees and 15,000 young people living with disabilities. The programme is going to be implemented in 18 districts
The private partnership also seeks to reach 600,000 people indirectly by adapting their business models to develop new products and services for young farmers
