The city of Chula Vista will host a free Active Shooter Preparedness and Response presentation.
The Chula Vista Police Department, the Chula Vista Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team and members from the University of California, San Diego Trauma Center will conduct the presentation. Over the past two years, the city has hosted four similar events.
The two-hour-plus event is scheduled at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 19 in the Chula Vista City Council Chambers, located at 276 Fourth Ave.
“At this free event, participants will learn how to prepare for an active shooter situation,” read a statement from the city. “Because active shooter situations are often over within 10 to 15 minutes before law enforcement arrives on the scene, individuals must be prepared to deal with the situation.”
