KARACHI: Shamsha Hashwani opened Day 2 of ‘A Secret Garden Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer ‘21’, with the Lenny Massey band in attendance, with ‘Surraiya’, a collection for brides and grooms in complementing tones and zari, tills and dhaba work. Its appeal lay in classic eastern cuts and silhouettes.
Amnesia by Maheen Khan in collaboration with Hilal Silk Palace aimed to revive the dying craft of hand-woven silk thread and the union brought forth a stunning collection in black and muted grey with classic Maheen signature cuts and silhouettes accentuated with beehive pattern gold jackets as separates. Overall the effect remained mesmerising. A triumph hands down as always.
It was fashion week, simmered down, decluttered, honed into an efficient, timely model.
Small but chic, from the illuminated tree in the centre of the courtyard that was fashioned into a catwalk to the live jazz music playing in the background, Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) had a classy vibe to it.
Coffee and pizza were served in the refreshingly short break in the middle of the shows, eliminating the possibility of fashion fatigue! Not that FPW was fatiguing. The hair and makeup, fumbling on the first day, was much better on this day, opting for the muted, pastel tones that were safe but worked well enough.
FPW 2021 Day 2: Another round of Bridal Couture Week
Second day witnessed all seven designers showcasing more bridal wear than haute couture
KARACHI:
The New Year commenced with Chanel taking over the ramp with its signature spring/summer styles, and other brands such as Fendi, Zimmermann, Valentino and Dior following suit. As the Western hemisphere attempted a return to pre-pandemic fashion shows, so did we. Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) Spring/Summer 2021 took place over the weekend, with seven designers showcasing their latest on day one and day two each. There was glitz, there was glamour - albeit, with SOPs in tow. But the pieces displayed fell short.
