Aspen s re-imagined Fourth of July festivities include parade

Independence Day in Aspen could be reimagined

Aspen Times file photo With a two-year hiatus from the traditional Fourth of July festivities including the parade and fireworks due to the pandemic and drought conditions, along with concern from elected officials about increased crowds, noise and environmental impacts, Independence Day in Aspen may look different in the future. “A lot of locals leave during this time, because it’s been so commercialized, and it’s not the Aspen they know anymore,” said Ann Mullins, a former Aspen City Councilwoman who serves on a committee re-examining July 4 events and celebrations next year and beyond. Scavenger Hunt in Aspen

Scavenger Hunt in Aspen The City of Aspen has partnered with a Denver based company, Let’s Roam, to host a free scavenger hunt through downtown Aspen called Aspen Skiers on Parade. The adventure begins with downloading a free app and then following clues and gathering points as participants move from various points of interest downtown. Working alone or as a team, players will learn unique facts about Aspen and will likely visit a few overlooked destinations. At each clue location, a tiny skier statuette will greet players to maintain the Aspen spirit and keep participants on the right track. For those who complete the hunt correctly, a free cookie awaits as a prize…but you must play to figure out how to get it.
