A more aggressive approach today in the states fight to control the coronavirus. California is ordering some businesses to close after theyve just reopened. We begin with one decision today by the governor thats impacting two main issues. In an effort to build a better bay area, we are talking about the economy and our health. He is ordering all bars to shut down in the following counties. Take a look. Fresno, imperial, kern, kings, los angeles, san joaquin and toler. The mandate of closures are in counties that have been on the States Coronavirus watch list for more than two weeks. Governor newsom says this step is critical to limit the spread of the virus in counties that are seeing the biggest increases. Two bay area counties are e ones where the governor is recommending bar closures. Those are contra costa, santa clara, riverside, sacrament san bernardino, Santa Barbara and ventura counties. Been taken off that ship since arriving on monday. Many went to Travis Air Force base and flown to other military bases for quarantine. Welcome to mornings on 2. Extraordinary times. I dont think ive ever seen anything like this. Carnival cruise lines are suspending cruises for the next two months. Some are canceling travel plans and saying no way am i getting on a plane and sitting next to someone so close at this time and others are taking advantage of flights. Me on my 40 a flight to 20 a night corona vacation. Millennials prefer to spend money on experiences such as travel instead of material things and will stretch their dollars as far as possible and millennials may feel a little less at risk for the corona virus because most of the dire warnings apply to people 60 years and older so my question this morning is is there any price that would get you to get on an airplane, jump on a cruise ship, or waiting it out . Not right now. But then again, im not im a father, i have children,
The northeast at 15 Miles Per Hour but gusts from 25 to 35 Miles Per Hour, offshore breezes into San Francisco and sfo. You can see the wind direction offshore. The radar still shows some light showers around the santa cruz mountains. And interesting to point out we could be looking at our second run of some mountaintop snow. Not so much around the santa cruz mountains. You can see on the radar the echoes there going from the southeast to the northwest. But ook at mt. Hamilton again as more of this moisture comes up out of the south, very likely looking at more snow falling tonight. But the real focus of the storm now is in Southern California, where theyve had Tornado Warnings, the grapevine has just been closed due to some heavy snow. This is the focus of the storm heading into thursday. So as we see decreasing showers tonight, the forecast is setting up for a much dryer forecast. Approaching the weekend. A closer look ahead at the next seven days and that new years eve forecast too
Rain. For the majority of us, it will be coming in later. The fog is here and drizzle is here. The dense fog advisories out and rain eventually drops out. It might take a while to even get down toward san jose and santa clara valley. Another system is on the way with various very high snow levels. Tomorrow, it will start to come down tomorrow afternoon and evening. It make it down to 4500 feet or 4000. For the majority, it will stay above 6000. There is a dividing line between the deeper moisture and fall, but if it doesnt burn off, doesnt matter. Visibility is either really good or not so good. The not so good is Half Moon Bay at zero visibility. Santa fe, two and half miles visibility. 60s for a lot of the temperature. The fog may have led to an accident and berkeley. We have a crash at eastbound and ashby. I want you to know what i can see at this area. I have the powell street offramp, and this is east body headed this way. I did see police cars going by with their lights on headin
Mid60s here. If you are north, it is sold out. 51 most of the temperatures here, fog still an issue, visibility really good for some, not so good for others. Half of the bay anywhere from zero to half a mile or three quarters of a mile in the same can be set around petaluma. A lot of cloud cover, on the mild side, 60s four minium temperatures today. That was nice, that sammy davis, that was nice. The fog is still there although it might be better now as the sun is coming up, visibly slightly better. It is very slow, theres a long line, could be because of the fog but you can see how slow it is approaching the Richmond Bridge. A crash that lingers at ashby avenue, the bay bridge toll plaza lighter because people are coming in from 580 or 880, you can take advantage of that. 880 is completely fogged in. If you look at the commute, you can see traffic is okay. Lets go back to the desk. San jose busy this morning investigating a deadly shooting. It happened on florence avenue and white roa
