Last year's combined death toll attributed to homicides, traffic crashes and suicides countywide could not quite reach the number of lives claimed by fentanyl-related overdoses, authorities shared in an announcement Monday.
"I really wanted to address the psychology behind why teens even consider self medication because there's so many things that contribute to why a teenage may consider it," said the film's director Kyle Santoro. "This project is really putting voice to all of those different perspectives."

Leslie Conner, who has served as the nonprofit's CEO since 2011 and holds a 25-year career of service in the local health care sector, will retire at the end of 2023. The search for a new CEO is already underway, according to a release from Santa Cruz Community Health.
