Calling the management and functioning of the mandi at Sector 26 “very poor”, the notice issued by Rupesh Kumar, Secretary, State Agriculture Marketing Board said: “The sanitation condition and encroachment removal work are not satisfactory. Heaps of garbage are seen everywhere. The garbage is not segregated and removed for long period of time creating unhygienic conditions in the Mandi”.
The demolition drive was held under tight police security arrangements. More than three dozen employees of the anti-encroachment wing of the UT estate officer conducted the drive.
