Language dictates, but actions speak

One of my amusements is collecting epithets for out-groups in as many languages as possible, and having lived in another, multi-lingual culture, and with friends of varied, non-European origins, the card slots have filled up nicely.
It’s not surprising that the young ’uns know no history and are deficient in dictionary skills, but what’s the excuse of their elders?
One encounters many pieties and much hand-wringing in this letters column. But what we need to actually do, as individuals and neighbors and members of society and inhabitants of the planet, is get back to basics:
