The Department of Digital Government and Service N.L. says it plans to plug a gap that has let landlords and tenants off the hook financially when they’ve broken the rules.
A CBC News investigation has found no evidence that any fines have been dished out since the Newfoundland and Labrador government beefed up a law five years ago to make sure landlords and tenants were made more accountable.
If someone decides to start using their vehicle for commercial use, they have to inform their insurance provider. If they use it for ride-hailing services, there are specific additions to that must be made.
